SS and Damp Rid

I have noticed that when I set out a Damp Rid moisture trap, the SS in the area "rusts". This is prevalent in my head and galley sinks and the counter tops. Is the "rust" an abberation and annoyance, or should I ban DAmp Rid from my vessel? Regards Ron Breen

hmmm..

I have used Damp Rid for over 10 years with no problems, but it's fresh water up here, and cold winters. Could it be the salt air?

Better idea

Davisnet.com sells a neat heater built for boats and RVs. It puts out just a little hot air to develop convection and eliminate moldy air.
