Should I be concearned by a squeek noise comming from the rubber gasket that surrounds the propeller shaft support? The boat is out of the water, in its cradle for the winter and I noticed this dry rubber on metal squeek when I gave the propeller a spin. (by hand). Is this a lubrication or bearing maintenance issue? Comments...

Needs Lub

If it is a dripless seal, it needs lubrication. Mt boat, a french built 361, came with a litle plastic fixture that is used to stuff silicon grease between the shaft and the rubber seal. In absence of the fixture you can use a thin plastic strip to do the same. Good luck and happy New Year

squeaks

Paul; My Ben400 has a dripless shaft seal that is lubricated by sea water. I don't think a squeak while the boat is out of the water is any cause for alarm, but that's hoping the shaft is aligned properly.
