I have 83 27'. The hatch cover to the salon makes a VERY LOAD squeal when I pull it closed. It makes no noise when opening. Any thoughts on what to try on rails? I`ve tryed the sprays. WD40, Silicone. etc. Thanks, Hitch

Depends on the model. Some had a slot in the teak trim that held the hatch. On later models, the hatch slid on the fiberglass lip of the companionway and the teak trim held it there. Which do you have?

I usually apply "drawer glide" or "slide" tape to the surface the hatch slides on. Some tapes are thin like Teflon plumbing tape, the one I prefer is rather rigid with a raised ridged surface. Sorry, I don't have a source, a friend who's a retired wood shop teacher gave me a roll.

I used Japanese Glide Tape from Annapolis Performance Sailing. About $30, which is enough to do two boats.

Japanese Glide Tape is exactly what I was trying to describe, Thanks for the lead Donnybrook. I've done 2 fiberglass on fiberglass hatches and there's still some left of the roll.
