Squeaky bulkheads

I am coinsidering the purchase of a new 310 and while test sailing I noticed that the bulkhead between the galley and the aft berth was squeaking and creaking to no end. I understand that this happens because the bulkhead is not glassed in (due to the headliner) but I wonder if anything can be done. I really enjoy the peace and quiet of sailing and this was driving me nuts! Has anyone had a similar problem and triming shimming or glueing?

response to squeak and winches

We have been sailing 310 for 2 years and have not experienced squeaking yet. We revamped the the mainsheet system to a 3:1 versus a 2:1 and rarely have to use the the winch for the mainsheet, however you do need the winch when you are reefing. The jibsheet locks work well for holding during this process but care must be taken when unloading (using the winch) the lock, there is lots of tension, (we damaged a jibsheet by not taking up the tension with the winch first). We sail year round in Puget Sound in all kinds of conditions and having the 2 winches has not been a problem.

Quiet

Tom, We've sailed our '97 h310 for two and a half years and have not had squeaking in the bulkheads. It's a great boat!

Mine is quite too

I have put 650 NM's on my new 1999 H310 and she does not squeak. If you are to buy a new H310, upgade the 110% jib for a 135% genoa. It doesn't cost that much more and it is the perfect set up for the 310!!! Great boat and Hunter has been wounderful to me. Good luck. Steve, s/v Obsession....
