Opening a Can of Worms
It's safe to say that all boats will squeak; however, the bulkhead squeaking you refer to is most likely due to the fact the bulkhead isn't a total structural bulkhead; one that carries from one side of the boat to the other and is fully and solidly glassed in. Our 35 which is the series previous to yours has this problem also. This squeaking can be nerveracking! On a sail through Queen Charlotte sound at night in drizzle 20 to 24 apparent winds, the boat was really squeaking. I could visualize things comming apart, bulkheads and cabine screws becomming loose, water leaks, etc., but we made our destination and seven years later the boat is still going strong and still squeaking. What can I say? Guess it goes with the territory. The boat is designed as a costal cruiser and for this purpose it will hold up okay and is structurally sufficient. If it helps, the squeaking is less audible from the helm.
