Squatting Beneteau 1998 Oceanis 352

So, I have an issue or at least I think I have one, my boat squats. As in the description it is a 1998 Oceanis 352 and she sits low aft, below the boot stripe. I have 30ft of chain in the anchor locker and 100ft of rode, only use the forward water tank, 1 8d lead acid battery aft (instead of the original 2 8ds) but still the boat sits low aft, above the original painted waterline. My question is what should I do about it, if anything. I do get growth on the bottom, but have no blisters or gelcoat damage. Should I put on a barrier coat and then bottom paint or just clean up the affected area and launch.

A saturated rudder might do that try drilling 1/8" hole in bottom rudder see if water runs out if not epoxy hole back up sand 1" around hole and install epoxy a little 2 part squirt tube be fine otherwise ya got to fine the saturation it's gonna get worse

i read my question 5 times before post it

why would water in the rudder sitting in the water cause it to squat in the rear ...doesn't the fact that it's in the water void the weight in the rudder

RE: woodster's question......I think that is a valid question. It is not like the boat is supporting that water above its waterline.

Do you have dinghy davits? Fuel tank or holding tank location? Was anything removed from the forward area of the boat? "Is a puzzlement!"

A saturated rudder will add very little weight to the transom. Rudders are designed to be neutrally balanced in water, the buoyancy of foam balanced by the weights of some steel and fiberglass. Saturate the foam and you are left with the weight of the rudder structure, maybe 30 pounds. Not really a big add.

To the OP.... assuming a new boat to you? How long has it been like this? It is possible that the stripe was drawn incorrectly from the get-go and its sitting correctly. Do you have any other evidence (visual or otherwise) that the boat is really off her lines?

For reference this is how my 352 sits in the water with no mast. No water in the forward tank and water in the port aft tank (50 Gallons) that balances out the 2x 4D batteries on the starboard side.

A not saturated foam core rudder should produce flotation that must have been engendered into the boat

It makes me wonder, is there ever any reference point built into a boat which is intended to be level. Last year, just for kicks, I set my electronic level on the sliding hatch cover (across the raised bars) and rails when I was lying at the slip on a calm day. Standing on the centerline behind the hatch, waiting for complete motionless and orienting the level fore-aft, I was astonished to read 0.0 degrees. I can't find any surface in my house that reads that.

on a boat that size it would not have enough effect to make any difference you could put a 5 gallon jerry jug full of fuel anywhere on that boat and not see a discernable difference

OK rudder is bone dry, material removed was bone dry. I am thinking the lines are wrong, it looks nice in a showroom but not actually the way the boat sits in the water.

fuel level was 1/2 full, no davits on the aft end, holding tank empty, rear water tank was empty as well. Once in the water, I will totally empty the boat to see if that changes anything, I will try adding a few friends to the bow this season and see if it changes the way she sits.

The Annapolis Beneteau dealer is just across the creek. I'll go look around the yard and docks for a 352 to compare to. I have a 323, but when it comes to 352s, I don't know squat. Really.
