Well you New England How'ers, the first vistiges of spring have arrived. As I was having my morning coffee on Saturday, I looked out in the yard and, lo and behold, there were about a dozen Robins on the lawn. They may only have stopped for a rest, because I haven't seen any since then, but if they're heading anywhere, it must been further north up the coast. Get ready NH and Maine, here they come! What a wonderful feeling.

Brrrrrr

As I drove to work this morning, the temperature read 10 degrees! I noticed a lot of ice flowwing down the Genesee River into Lake Ontario yesterday. At least the sun was shining! Ken Palmer, S/V Liberty

8 degrees

at my house this AM. Still far too cold for me to be sailing. Will be going to Tortola on Friday for some "warm sailing"

Forties tomorrow on Lake Erie.

Playing hooky to get some work done before the Spring thaw. You can see our playgrounds at: http://www.lakevision.com/weather.htm We are at camera #6 and you can almost see Cedar Point on the horizon. Notice that there appears to be NO ICE. But it's just below the surface.

Today Was An Annual Benchmark

Hi, Paul. Today was one of our annual benchmark days; the first day that we could eat breakfast (and see what we were eating!) without a light on. Next benchmark is first drive home from work without turning car lights on; usually late Feb/early March. There was a Robin in our back yard this morning too, but it was not a happy camper at 8 degrees! Mid-April is the dealer's current best guess for the initial test sail on 'Syzygy', and we can't wait!!!! In the meantime we are going over more details than we ever imagined, and our check-writing hands are getting an awful lot of exercise! But we just can't wait! Waddaya mean another eight weeks!! BTW, we will be nearby neighbors in Dutch Harbor, and we are also on the list for the "2002 Northern Rendezvous. We need to get together some time. Regards, Carl and Juliana Dupre H340 s/v 'Syzygy'
