we begin our 3rd day of Spring Preparation. Not visible, we removed the rudder, prop, and cutlass bearing. Popped the blisters and sanded one side of the hull to the water line.

I feel like I am an extra in a Woody Allen movie...

No PPE for Les. He looses his fine touch.

Not me. I’m gloved, wrapped and covered.

It has been a surprise. 40% of the locals are on the highways. It has been remarkably quiet in and around Seattle. Getting a seat is a walk in take your pick. Of course the stores have been raided. No toilet paper, bottled water, or canned beans. I have no idea about all this.

We are supposed to be up there in a few weeks to see friends and family. The articles I've read make it sound like a ghost town. I don't know whether to be excited about the lack of traffic or worried about the virus (and maybe the lack of TP).

One benefit, maybe the only one, of living in an area where you haul out your boat every winter. You have plenty of time to do maintenance and repairs before spring launch. Sounds like John and Les have had a busy weekend and no rest for the weary this week.

How's the work going? Have you changed the rudder yet? We need an up-date!

I left on Tuesday. Les has repaired the hole in the rudder skeg.

So leaks are abated. Nice weather happens and he got barrier coats and bottom paint on.
But.
New shaft was cut too short. Bummer.
Waiting on replacement. A couple more days on the hard are anticipated.

I sanded my hull today to get rid of some flaking VC17 (remnants of a prior poor application) and to smooth a little orange peel in the paint. Got a new mainsail for 2020 and want the boat to the fastest it can be

found an old respirator and some goggles...but head looked like I was bleeding when I took a shower.

also repacked the stuffing box with GFO packing.
