Spreaders too high or patches too low?

The round reinforcement patches on my sail that are meant to reinforce the sail where it rubs against the spreaders are too low - the spreaders barely touch the top of the circle. Anyone else have this problem? The spreaders appear to be horizontal when the mast is stepped (not sloping upwards). Not sure how to solve this - any advice?

Sail Patches

The patches are too low. I talked to JY several months ago about this same thing. According to Clint at JY, the patches are not supposed to be on the sail at all...he was suprised that they were there. I don't know what to make of that! Anyway, I called North Sails in Zenda, Wisconsin (I live about 50 minutes from Zenda, the sails are actually made in the west coast NS facility) and was sent many feet of the material that the patch is made of. I got it in many colors!!! My kids hate the white only sail and we will dress the sail up a bit with the colors (purists hate that!). If you want to "fix" it call North Sails and get some patch cloth (scaps are cheap if not free). It comes in many colors as that is what they use for sail numbers and logos. The patch on the sail will come off very easily if you follow their directions (use a solvent). I have attached the link for North Sails Zenda. I don't remember who I talked to there, but it was a very helpful lady and she sent me a bunch of stuff!!! Good luck!

Check With Flatening Reef Too

Hopefully your sail has a flatening reef so if you're changing your spreader patches it would be good to have something that would also work when the flatening reef is in.
