Questions for my fellow sailors. I have an '88 catalina 22. Love to sail her. I just got back in last night and noticed the spreaders were not perpindicular to the mast they are angled up(not my muchbut enough to be visible byeye at the dock). I have the ugraded factory direct stainless steel brakets and I seem to recall that the spreaders a while back were perpendicular to the mast. Can they slide up along the cable stays? Could it be that the stays are not tensioned enough? Should I continue sailing like this or should I take the mast down and inspect? If so what should I look for? Do I take that mast down and just slide the spreader down a couple of inches along the stays what will keep them in that position? I would really appreciate any help with this since I have never taken the mast down and am not sure how these spreaders are even connected. Thank you very much for any suggestions.

They should be angled up...

The spreader brackets are meant to be angled up. It helps spread the load.
