Spreader replacement

Recently acquired an Oday Mariner which needs a lot of help. One thing is the spreaders appear to be made of electrical conduit type tubing and I want to replace them with something nicer. They appear to be only long enough to contact the upper shrouds, leaving the shrouds running strait up to the mast head from the chain plate with no "spread" Have looked at a lot of other sailboats in the marinas and all seem to actually have some spread in the shrouds, but cannot find another Oday to compare with. If any knows the length that I should cut the new spreaders to I would appreciate some help. John

Spreader Length

I have a 1972 Mariner, the spreader length is 20 1/2 inches. They are 117 inches from the foot of the mast. Hope this is of some help to you.
