I have recently purchased a share in a 1978 Pearson 30. The spreader light does not work. I pulled the switch panel, aft end, starboard side of cabin and found that there was no wire connected to the fuse. No one else seems to know why it was not connected. The problem is that I cannot find a loose wire in that cavity and need to know just how that wire from the mast step may have been routed back to the switch panel area. It may give me a good start in trying to locate it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would like to solve this before putting the boat away for winter. Thanks, Dave Seaberg

If you want it done right...
run a new wire (boat cable yellow and red) down from the spreader (it is probably broken and chaffed anyway with a dead short) to the mast step or where ever all the rest of the wires go (steaming and anchor light). Make up a plug in type of connection and run back to the panel. All the wiring will be good to go... you won't have top worry about what goes where or anyone elses mistakes. If old wire is not connected to the panel... it can't do any harm (however... it would be nice to get it out of there). You would probably want a dedicated switch for that. Red wire goes to switch... yellow to ground. Good luck.
