A friend of mine re-did his spreaders with thick plastic from Tap plastics. seem to work great. He took the old spreader down and they just made a new one.Dan

Dings in the mast tail end of spreader bracket?

Hey guys chech out the "problem alert" on the Ericson 27 one design web site about dimples in the mast caused by the spreader bracket. I had this happen to my mast this past season. Im in the process of fabrication new ones out of 5086 marine grade aluminum from an industrial supply house McMaster-Carr. They are a great source for metal, stainless screws bolts, ect. When I get the new brackets made I'll attach a photo if you want.

Don't know if they are the same, but...

I just brought my E23 home from the lake yesterday, and intend to pull the spreader brackets off and check on having some duplicates cast or fabricated. Don't laugh, the 23 uses a relatively large section mast (6.5" X 3.25") that is the same as the early 25s and I think 27s. If this works out, I'll have 10 or more pairs made up and put them on the shelf, as there seems to be quite a demand.
