Spinnakers

I have just purchased this 1985 Mirage 35. The Majority of my sailing at this time is cruising with some not so serious racing(if there is such a thing). My question is what type of spinnaker would probably be the best for my uses?What is the differences in a DRIFTER, GENAKER, CRUISING and POLELESS spinnaker? I have been sailing for over 20 years bur have never used a spinnaker.

APC

A Doyle APC (Asymmetrical Power Cruising) is perfect for cruising, shorthanded sailing and limited racing. Used with an ATN dousing sock 2 people can set and douse the sail in most conditions. Also it requires minimal additional deck hardware and running rigging. No pole, no topping lift or foreguy, no afterguys etc. All you need is a halyard, a couple of sheets and 2 sheet blocks. Mac 26M cruising spinniker

Having read the other posts regarding flying a spinniker I find myself wondering about a couple things relevant to the Mac 26M. Where is the best place to add the attachment points on the main of a fractional rig. I noticed that the crusiing spinniker is an option for the 26M,,,I didn't purchase it when I had the boat delivered and have decided to do so.And is ther concerns regarding flying the spinniker alone with no backstay such as is the design of the new 26M?

Hi Bobby,If you have a roller furling jib, then you will need a separate halyard for the APC Cruising Spinnaker. If you have a hank-on jib, you could use your jib halyard. The halyard is best mounted just above the forestay. The spreaders on your boat are swept sufficiently to support the mast when flying the APC.
