Spinnaker Uphaul attachment?!?!?!

Folks, After acquiring a H25 last fall, I've spent the winter plotting the addition of a spinnaker to the boat. I already had a pole ring and track on the mast, and a spinnaker bail up top, and have since accumulated halyard and sheet blocks, line, and a pole. To make my setup complete, however, I need some pointers as follows: Where should I attach an uphaul block to the mast? - a percentage, above/below the spreaders, etc. If the halyard runs up the port side of the mast, and the spinnaker is set to the starboard side, the halyard will be dragged over the forestay- what do people usually do? - don't worry about it, lead the around the forestay to the downwind side? Due to the narrow cabin top and wide hatch, there isn't much room for turning blocks at the mast base to lead the lines back to the cockpit - can I get away with controlling uphaul/downhaul at the mast? Thanks in advance, Matt PS. - anyone on long island have a h25 I can stop by and study? I still havn't figured out how all the reefing hardware on the boom was meant to be set up.

Question

Is the spin asymetrical or symetrical? It makes a difference.

Some help - I hope

I cant help on the full spinnaker question - I use an asymmetric and love it. I have an 81 H25 and the reefing on the main is layed out as follows: 2 reef points in main Two reefing lines running through boom to cam cleats on mast end. The reefing lines should come over the sheaves located in the aft boom cover and up through the reef points then down to an eye on the boom even with or a little behind the for-aft position of the reef point. I will usually only set up one point unless I know the weather will be highly variable. With such a small main the extra weight can disturb sail shape. I love my h25 and sail it year round in the Northern Neck of VA

H25 Symmetric spinnaker setup

Previous partner & I installed a symmetrical spinnaker setup on '81 H25. The uphaul block is a few feet above the spreaders, slightly less than half the distance from spreaders to the top. Fairly arbitrary. We led spinnaker uphaul, halyard, and downhaul lines to port side winch, (plus Main & jib with vang on the other side). Have lived with loss of cabintop edges as good footing. Used cheek blocks and a padeye to locate downhaul block immediately in front of cabin rise. You adjust downhaul to change pole positions, not a big deal if the controls are together. Ran spinnaker halyard outside mast (put M&Jib H's inside), yes, we bring it around the forestay as needed (it always seems to be on the wrong side). Used standup blocks near mast, and deck organizers to turn halyards aft to cockpit. This entailed a lot of access holes for thru bolting, but it all works. I have sailed it singlehanded with spinnaker (and autopilot)in light air but two or three will be busy with handling in more exciting air, 4 (incl helmsman) is nice crew size for fast handling. Views showing this setup are unintentional but were what's available. They show pole lift eye on mast btween spreaders and top; 3 views of controls to cockpit with (2) triple sheet stoppers, 2 winches, double and triple organizers, tops of schaefer 1.5inch dia standup blocks on deck near mast base; side view of the cheek blocks and eye for pole downhaul; plus the setup at work. I have a spare standup block and the original Chrome mast winch if somebody is interested, email us50898@yahoo.com
