Spinnaker Pole Line

All, Last year we had a good discussion about where to put the spinnaker pole ring and I appreciate the advice. I actually used my spinnaker pole last fall before I pulled the boat and with the genoa on a downwind run it was fantastic. This year I am trying to finish up my install with a dedicated line to haul up and support the pole when I am flying it. I was going to use a Harken Carbo block (I just like them) on the mast with a cleat mounted lower on the mast to tie it off, but then started thinking about the fact I had an unused clutch and path back to my cockpit on the port side which would allow me to control the line from the cockpit. Two big problems are that I need to add an extra block at the base of the mast where the attachment points are on the mast base and I am worried that the line would not be real clean (i.e. the line would tend to ride against the mast). So far looking online I have not found the exact Garhauer blocks that are installed there either (might have to break down and call Catalina). Has anyone done anything similar, and what did you do? Thanks Ray

Thanks, and a few more questions

Mick, Thanks for the pointer to the Garhauer page. I did email them and asked whether Catalina uses the 30-LS or the 60-LS Mast Collar Blocks (didn't realize that was their name when I first looked on their page), but I suspect it is the 60-LS model. For the other part of my dilemma/opportunity has anyone routed their line for hauling their pole up through the mast or am I just as well off to use a block just below the spreaders and run it down through the Mast Collar Block and back to the cockpit? I am thinking that most of the time the line is pretty static with only minor adjustments once you get the pole up so it may not matter
