hello. when i purchased my boat one of the sail bags was hiding a spinnaker. it is a classic symmetrical spinnaker. i do not have a pole but it looks like there is an eye for the pole on my mast. is it possible that this spinnaker belongs to this oday? i havent seen any pictures or articles stating this would be correct. help.....

I don't see why not. My Oday 22 came with a hidden spinnaker with a pole which seems to have an attachment at the mast. ( have not tried it yet).

My 1965 Mariner came with a Spinnaker and pole as well. My mast has the same eye. There is also a padeye and hauldown mounted to the cabin top. I think it was probably part of the original sail package. I wouldn't be surprised if yours was too.

Joe,
I have a symetrical Spinnaker on my Oday 22. It uses the eye on the front of the mast and into one of the base eyes of the spinnaker. It actually is what I would call a whisker pole, with a hook on one end that attaches to the mast and a pin type end on the opposite end that goes into one of the lower eyes of the spinnaker. I have used it, but don't run into the chance to often. I find that I use the whisker pole more on my jib for down wind sailing. I push the jib out one side and the main out the other side. This has proven to help when winds are light and there just doesn't seem to be enough wind.
Enjoy the spinnaker, they are lots of fun when you have the opportunity to use it.
