Hi Wilhelm,
Of course I remember you, as I recall I was in a great rush to get to Dania, as I was shipping Cin Cin to the Netherlands, when you came out to the boat at Jewfish Creek bridge. Sorry to hear about your engine. I am afraid I won't be anywhere near the Keys on this trip. We are going to the Rocky Mountains (Boulder, Colorado for a week, then a few weeks in Southern California). I really miss southern Florida, but not the Hurricanes, this has been a very bad year for Florida. I had my share of them in the over 10 years in the Keys and Bahamas, but luckily we escaped unscathed. We don't have hurricanes, but for the past 10 days it has been steady Force 6 to 8 gusting to 80 Kilometers per hour with some pretty hefty seas (the North Sea isn't that deep, at least not where I am.) Sort of reminds me of the Gulf Stream in a Northeaster with short steep seas. Pretty good weather for practicing "heaving-to", but not much else. Next summer I am "planning" on taking her south through
the French canals to the Costa del Sol in southern Spain. "Maybe" an Englishman or German will get homesick and return home, thereby freeing up a mooring or slip, in one of the marinas. Otherwise the outlook for a permanent slip does not look too promising. Buying a slip is out of the question $$$$$$$$$. Of course if I win the Lotto, I can always buy another Vega and dock her in Dinner Key !! Sigh......
Take care, maybe we will meet again
P.S. Don't buy a Westerbeke 13 HP !!!!!!!

Hi Bob:
remember me? We met at Jew Fish Creek at Key Largo some
time ago. How are you- are you around Miami when you come
to
the States in September? Sorry- I can't give you a ride on
my boat- the motor is dead- a very recommended mechanic in
Key Largo fixed the motor, charged me almost 5,000 bugs,
and after some 5 hours running it made "Puff" and the soul
went out of the engine... I'm now looking for a new motor.
No- I don't need a spinnaker.. have one myself.. and hope
to use it some day again. Sailing season starts after the
hurricanes have gone... and I can tell you, we were scared
here enough this year! I just listen in the news.. another
storm is on it's way (Ivan by-passes us.. luckily!) but
that new one is aiming for South Florida
Take care... Wilhelm, V-257
