Does anyone have specific luff, leach, and foot dimensions fot a cruising spinnaker, gennaker, specifically cut for a 272? I'm in the market for a used one so I'm surfing the WEB and finding them and I'm a bit leery without specific,or at least close dimensions. I can calculate approximate square footage based on the boat they came off but the actual dimensions could turn a bargain into a painting tarp. Of course if somebody has one for sale at a reasonable price, that could solve my problem??? Scotty

for sym try 30 luff/18 ft. +/- 1

12 ft. pole. sort of what I use. 34 luff is too big ... I tried that. Probably any A sail with a 30 ft. luff will work ...but we like to use the CD cruising spin on a 12 ft. pole to get it a couple of feet in front of the forestay ... much more exciting that way. {photo shows it at the forestay, is old picture} Hey ... I once used a jib as a main sail. Lots of things work ... They really can't be too complicated as CD sells "standard" A sails off the shelf they say work on a lot of boats. See if you can find one to test. vic "Seven"

Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply, As usual, just when I hit the info wall and ask for help, the answer appears. For those interested, Bacon Sails has a very good sail sizing info sheet. Your suggestion falls right in line with the computation they suggest. 90 days to Spring launch. Scotty

Also you need to check if you have a Spin

halyard installed .... didn't seem to be a standard line item. I use the standard jib halyard for a pole lift. But you might try to use the jib halyard for a spin halyard ... you will have to do an inside gybe I think. I know it didn't like the outside gybe and tangled around the forestay. But the top of the mast is set up for the part if you end up adding a real spin halyard. Also remember wisker pole is not spin pole if you decide to try that ... wisker poles for normal wisker pole work are too weak. Also to remember that on the 272 higher than a beam reach ... rudder does not have a lot of bite in the water over 25 degrees. Spring launch? We sail more down here in a month than up north all summer. You will have to pay a few more years of dues. Vic in Naples.
