Spinlock Clutch Bolt length

I have a 1998 Hunter 340 and will be adding another halyard. I need to add another clutch alongside the double Spinlock XA already on the boat. I understand there is a metal backing plate already fixed into the deck and I should be able to tap into it with the screws.

Does anyone know how long the screws should be? I don't want to drill too deep or install screws that are too long and go through the headliner.

Thanks

Thanks for your suggestion. I was trying to avoid removing bedded hardware as it sometimes doesn't go well. Guess I'll take that route as it may be easier in the end.

Pulling a screw and measuring would be the best way. Hopefully you can do this without messing up the bedding. As a rough estimate, on my H30, the plate is about 3/4" below the surface of the deck. So you'd need a screw that protrudes about 1" from the bottom of the clutch. But your mileage may vary:)
