What removes the little black dots that appear on the white fiberglass? They are a little less that a 1/16 inch in diameter. I think that they are spider poop. I know that the Cleaner-Wax that I use on the hull takes them off with plenty of rubbing, but I don't want to use this on the non skid, or the seats in the cockpit. Aldo

Black dots & jet fuel

My boat's right near the Portland International Airport & I can attest that jet fuel leaves nasty black gunk all over the boat. This is a very fine, almost dusting, of black stuff. Now I also have some black dots which very well could be spider poop. Never thought about it. Soft Scrub usually takes care of it for me. LaDonna

Could be mildew and it is

a bear to get off. I use to have this problem. I use Island Girl Crystal Clear cleaner and conditioner. It inhibits the grow of mildew. The little I get, washes right off. The jet exhaust is more problematic. Since it is oil based , it will imbed itself into the gelcoat. Removing the black streaks also means removing the wax. What I have found most effective with the least amount of damage to the wax and gelcoat is to use Island Girl's Pink Cleaner and Lotion with a paper towel or 3M's 000 scotch pad and lightly rub the surface. The paper towel and 3m's 000 is less abrasive than most cleaning pads, polishes and cleaners. I have also found by using the Clear followed by a couple of thin layers of good paste wax and IG's silkenseal the black streaks will come off easier.
