Specs for a 1981 30' Catalina

We are inbetween an S2 and Catalina and would like your opinions on the 30' Catalina in regards to the basic spec sheet, ie., displacement, ballast, mast height, etc. Your input will be greatly appreciated. We presently own an S2 7.3 and are looking to move up.Thanks,Warren

I ahve been in your situation

I am looking now and have decided on a 86 Cat 36. But this is only becuase the 80 S2 11.0A that I was looking at was sold out from under my feet. I think between the two, the S2 is a better boat because of the quality of construction. The Catalina has the name recognition and is still in production. I think both Catalinas and S2s are good boats, but I like the S2s for their construction quality.Les Murray
