Has anyone surface mounted speakers in the Cockpit of their 240. I would like to install a stereo system and make use of the flush mounted speakers that are available. Where did you place the speakers and has it worked out? Thanks, Brad

I have not installed cockpit speakers. I am installing two speaker at the foot of the V-berth, and two speakers near the companion way under access panel to the cabin top winches. I think this will put plenty of sound out in the cockpit and allow me to avoid those high priced marine speakers that are wheatherproof. I have seen photos on the photo forum of speakers mounted under the stern rail seats on H240's. If you are going to use flush mount units instead of box type speakers you might consider mounting them in the coamings where the drink holders and winch hadel are stored. Good luck I know how important it is to have tunes while you sail.

speaker installation

i have a hunter 27.5, 1995, and i have had a problem installing speakers in an area that look good, sound good and are easy to install. I have found that a good set of bose outdoor/waterproof speakers work well mounted underneath my sternrail seats (if you have them) wires are easily hidden, and you can take the speakers with you when you close the boat. the sound is not too low in the cockpit and can be swiveled around toward the water if you are overboard swimming. plus, the sternrail seats are great too!
