Does anyone know where to get replacements for the stereo volume control module? Mine looks like this on my Passage 450.

Well that's an interesting way to control volume... Normally the volume is controlled by adjusting the signal going into the amplifier. In this case it's controlling the volume coming out of the amplifier and going to the speaker. This is done in plenty of applications but it's still unusual to see it these days. Anyways, if you can't find a replacement by part number, please let us know how many speakers you have, what the impedance (resistance) of each one is and if known, what the wattage is.

What symptoms is it exhibiting?

The volume control that Jim links in his posting is the same one that we have on our boat. It died a few years ago from corrosion and replaced it with same. Hard to tell from the thread poster's picture, but it appears to be a different model. Ours works great.

The L-Pad is the best volume control method.
Why?
Two rheostats work together.
One attenuates the Volume and the other maintains constant impedance, like 8 ohms.

The face design used on Hunter Boats is not key but the fit and cover plate is.

I found that they may not function well when not operated for a long period.
Simple fix is to work the knob "max to min" many times to "clean" the rheostats.

The one I replaced was because the Previous Owner got frustrated with the Cockpit control, and stuffed it behind the instrument panel. Plus he did not plug the hole up.

Works great now to keep the neighbors happy when playing music at the marina.
Jim...

PS: Instructions for wiring are included with the Control.

I asked for symptoms because I suspected that it may be corroded or dirty inside as you suggeted. I was going to suggest some DeoxIt but for better or worse, a new part is cheaper
