Our boat came with an Autoprop feathering propeller. It has worked very well but felt I needed a spare prop just in case. I was able to purchase an original 356 Martec prop off the classified ads on this web site. I polished it up and mounted it on a piece Ipe decking I picked it up for free off a decking project in Florida. I intend to hang it up in the salon when we get back to the boat next winter. Until then it is an interesting conversation piece around the house.

Brilliant idea.

It is a brilliant idea. It looks beautiful. I have my original propeller stoved away. This is a good and decorative use for it. Hope you dont mind if I do the same? :).

Andreas

I'm glad it gave you an idea. Go for it ! Easy project and little cost. My boat is 1600 miles away so I enjoy working on projects like this until I can get back to her......

I put a threaded stainless steel insert in the board from the back side. Some felt furniture discs protect the table and wall. Under the prop is a thin 2" rubber washer from Homedepot to keep it from rotating. The top of the prop has a s/s fender washer on it with short piece of threaded rod going from the insert to a chromed acorn nut I had from a Harley project I did some time ago. I mostly used what was hanging around the garage.

hey Bob

Would you mount my prop?

We took a second prop on our Bahama trip and it saved our boat after striking a submerged log.

I think I could get myself a job here ? Too bad I'm retired. :D

Maybe SBO should be selling a kit to do props up like this, looks like a business opportunity for someone !

Take care Jim
