Ahoy - I am looking to make some duplicate copies of my lone surviving ignition key (all the rest were kicked in half from weekend guests). I am having the hardest time finding a blank key stud that will fit the ignition. Any ideas on sources? Thanks.

Get them from a Yanmar Dealer

If they are the pot metal ones of old, you can get them from a Yanmar dealer. Buy several--they go fast.

any old key

try any key, the yanmar ignition is not too particular. The Yanmar keys are expensive.

If all else fails...

You can get a new switch for about $20 at West Marine. And they'll even throw in the keys that fit it...

Idea

Once you buy a few keys from the Yanmar dealer, tape one under a lazarette. Then use duct tape to tape another behind your license plate on the car. That's where I keep my spare car key too. If all else fails, try the marina store, since most Yanmar keys to other boats work on yours too. It's a wonder all these boats haven't been stolen over the years by enterprising thieves!

Home Depot

I had no trouble getting a duplicate made at Home Depot.

Cole blanks

It was once posted on this site that some Cole key blanks are identical. That suggests that Home Depot may be the place. And remember, that you don't have to get the key cut - one size fits all! I have even used a screw driver.
