We spent Thanksgiving comfortably anchored behind uninhabited Pine Island, on the Tolomato River, while a steady rain washed our decks. There are usually several boats anchored here but this trip there was only one other. One reason was the fixed bridge south of the St. John River which had a masthead clearance of only 61 feet, forcing many sailboats, needing 65 feet, to head out the inlet.

Sally prepared a true Thanksgiving feast for us with turkey thighs, stuffing, gravy, mashed sweet potatoes, peas, cranberry sauce. apple pie and Prosecco. It was quite an accomplishment in a small boat galley. We were both glad not to be trying to get to a restaurant in the wind and rain we could hear outside.

The rain ended late the next morning and we made our way to the Fort Matanzas anchorage. Since then we had two sunny, warm-to-hot, light air days with few opportunities to sail, then two days with sailing winds. We spent a night in Rockhouse Creek near New Smyrna Beach, a night anchored off Cocoa where I visited the world's best hardware store, a night at another Pine Island near Vero Beach, then last night in Hobe Sound inside Jupoter Island. (Hobe is how a spanish speaker would pronounce Jove.)

We're now in a slip at Old Port Cove Marina in North Palm Beach where someone from Florida Rigging and Hydaulics will come to take away our steering pedestal to replace the bearings. I don't. as yet, have any idea how long that will take. From here, we cross the Gulf Stream to the Bahamas so this will be my final report of the trip. I may post updates for the Bahamas and points south on our web site, gorgeousgirl.org if anyone’s interested.

Great report Chris. I love anchoring out in a nice quiet creek. Don't blame you for not being addicted to posting.

Heard you on the radio a few times, water has been high since Irma hit Florida. Made us happy to get a window to jump from Fernandina to Fort Pierce.
