With talk of lack of slips in SC (south California) and me getting a call from a headhunter in SC (South Carolina), I was wondering if it's easy to find a live-aboard slip near Charleston, SC and what the going rate is and what the sailing is like in the Atlantic Vrs the Gulf. Info?

Big current

This is where those two stupid kids went out of on top of a Sunfish and wound up hundreds of miles away. I've had a similar scary experience out of Beaufort. Probably not as big a deal with a 40-footer, but still...

S.C. (South Carolina) slips

Bill, there are slips available in the Charleston area that will run from $7.50/foot/month to $14.00/foot/month with reductions for annual contracts/leases. Water and electric is included in the base rates for some and extra for others. Of the four marinas in the immediate Charleston harbor that are not blocked by minimum bridge clearances, all are exposed to river currents and strong tide ranges. There are many other marinas up and down the ICW within 90 miles of Charleston. Suggest you obtain a copy of Young's Cruising Guide to S.C and Georgia and then start searching. (I wound up in North Carolina). Good Luck. Steve Kamp
