If there is a Catalina dealer in South Carolina I would bet on Charleston. You might not escape sales tax in your home state. When you register your boat at home they will probably charge you the difference between the tax you already paid and the tax they charge for in-state purchases. I would ask at the place where you will have to register your boat before going to the trouble of purchasing in S. Carolina.
