Below are the highlights of an unplanned day trip I took with a friend in his 22' HBI inflatable, (top speed about 30 knots) , The chart shows the route we took and most of the stops, we left Bayside with only one thing planned - having breakfast
· Left Bayside at 7:30 AM in a 22’ HBI inflatable, forecast was for little wind, which is why we were in a motorboat.
· Stopped for Breakfast in Castine at Maries corner variety (ate with Wayne Hamilton)
· Nosed into Horseshoe Creek then gassed up at Bucks Harbor Marina
· Nosed into Center Harbor to gawk at the boats there
· Visited with friend who is the waterfront director at Wooden Boat school, sat on his waterfront porch (the Boathouse) for 45 minutes
· Proceeded to east end of Reach, then to Isle au Haut village for lunch at the Lobster Lady’s
· Nosed into Duck Harbor
· Landed very briefly at Brimstone island
· Headed to North Haven for a couple of pints at the new Brewery
· Watched Dark Harbor 17’s racing under spinnakers at Pendleton Point
· Cruised through Brackett’s Channel and Gilkey Harbor
· Back in Bayside at 4:05 PM
