Hello all,

After 15 years my wife and I have decided to get back into sailboat ownership and it looks like we are close to finalizing our purchase of a 310. One of the thousands of questions we have is about the galley. To the left of the Adler/Barbour fridge is a compartment with counter top lid. We somehow did not check this out. Is it a cooler with drain?

Thanks, I guess that means a cooler for ice? Unless the fridge has a freezer compartment for ice trays?

In my 2005 C-310, that is a cooler with a drain.

On our hull #155-2001 the bottom of the fridge has holes in it and water will drain down through the holes and you will pump it out by using the Y handle under the sink. One turn will drain the shower sump and the other will drain the fridge drain. Hope that helps, experiment by pouring water and make sure the screens are clean on the pumps under the sink..

It seems some 310's have no drain like mine so it is dry storage while others have a drain so it is a cooler. Interesting.

Welcome aboard!! I have hull #48 (2001) and it is dry storage with no drain. My 310 came with 2 ice trays (they look original), but I've never used them. I also run the fridge on the warmest setting ("1") and find that to be completely adequate as long as I keep opening the main door to a minimum and primarily use the top door in the counter. I have thrown a bag of ice into the bottom of the fridge for a weekend trip and it was only partially melted by the end of 2 days, while running the fridge on "1".

Curt, My inserts have gotten brittle and broken over the years, if you find you want to sell the ice trays, let me know...
