Geez, just when you think you have it all down, something comes along and gets ya!! We finally had to add fuel to our 320. We pulled up to the fuel dock and a young man came out to help us. I should have know from the beginning that when he asked where the fuel tank was, we were in trouble. I continued to show him and as he kept telling me that the hole wasn't big enough to fit the nozzle into, he kept cramming it in and PLOP, you guessed it, he sheared my gas cap right off the chain and into the water it went. Now luckily, I switched the waste cap to the fuel cap area and they are interchangeable (yes I cleaned it off really well first. dry cloth, no moisture) and then I duct taped over the waste filler cap to keep out any unwanted things. Off to West Marine to get new caps AND YES, a couple of spares. Lesson learned, DO IT YOURSELF. p.s. No tip for that guy!

Bob: At least he didn't add fuel to your fresh water tank! I have a friend on the way up the ICW from FL to VA who had 50 Gal of diesel added to one of his water tanks. BIG (read expensive)MESS. Smooth sailing! Tim (S/V "TIDE")

Inconvenient Location

We JUST finished discussing that very possibility. We're off to West Marine just for a spare! Also, the fuel and waste tank openings are not in very convenient locations. The arch gets in the way on both sides. Seems like it should (or could) have been more thought out. Oh, well. We still love our 320!

Bob I could have written the same letter. It happen to me exactly like it happened to you and the results were the same. The holding tank outlet on my 320 is under the starboard stern seat and it is difficult to get the vaccum hose on the fitting. But I stil love the boat. PS I do my cap removing and hose insertions myself. I can see them filling my fuel tank with gas!
