Something missing?

In the attached photo you can see the head of my mainsail. Today I realized that the nylon slug was no longer staying in the track of the mast. It ought to have something solid in the center of that slug, shouldn't it?

What do the rest of your track slides look like? If an insert is missing, just stuff some sort of appropriate sized rod in there for a test.

It should be the same as the others. You can buy the shackle and proper size slug from any chandlery or sailmaker.

on the headboard of the 25.5 where the nylon is use to be a sail slide with a rectangular stainless piece of metal in essence thru that nylon. For ease, get a shackle with a new a new sail slide but be careful wht you get so the sail slide lines up vertically.. sorry about the terminology but old fartitis is getting me

I think that webbing is to be secured to a plastic or metal slide. Not to be fit into mast sail slot.

If you go to www.sailrite.com you'll get all the technical info you need. It might be necessary to re sew the existing webbing. If you're not up for that, you can replace the webbing with a shackle.... as noted in the bottom picture, there are many ways to attach a sail slide....

Click on either picture to go to the Sailrite guide.

Hey thanks (Crazy Don) all of you. I think I get it now. My sail has those white plastic sliders , and they all slide freely.
I have extra ones on the stash, so I will have a look-see.
One of those slugs is what is missing at the top.

thanks, Jeff
