we are planning on taking an overnighter from Somers Point to Mays Landing <or as far as we get in one day> Does anyone know how long it takes on a slow sailboat? I would guess we will end up motoring most of the way 4miles an hour? also any nice anchorages other than Mays Landing harbor or any other advice.

When I was windsurfing many years ago I always wanted to do that trip but starting in Mays Landing and going towards OC but just never found the time.
You might want to stop in at the Sugar Hill Inn in Mays Landing. The owner has a real nice sailboat and offers sunset cruises. He probably knows the river well. They have a web site.

I don't know the distance. Lots of twisting skinny passages in the river. I agree, you will be motoring quite a bit. The bulkhead area in Mays Landing would definitely be the best area to anchor.
Another option for food would be the Mill Street Pub. You would have to walk to it from the bulkhead.

Check out this free site. It's great for determing distance. It puts the Mays Landing bulkhead 13 miles from the Beesleys Pt/Parkway Bridge.
