The mystery leak was from the anchor locker drain. There was no caulk or gasket under the plastic nut screwed into the drain hose. We put butyl caulk on both sides of the drain hose connection (between the underside of the deck & the drain hose .... and also underneath the plastic nut.

My 87 Hunter 23 was done the same way. I was amazed it leaked that long and no previous owner found or fixed it.

Nothing more satisfying than finding the nagging leak. Congrats.

I'd recently found my boat with 1-2gal of water inside the cabins port locker after only one rainy weekend. The locker is in the salon and sealed on both ends so you'd think the leak'd be an easy find with so much volume. Since water was running across the inside of the liner and down to the lip at the top of the interior cushions, then overflowing right above the port locker it made every deck penetration and every window on the port side a suspect.

After water hose flood testing each fitting, window, deck hardware and the tabernacle one at a time it finally revealed itself at the port side rope clutches which were easily pulled and rebedded. I was never so glad to see water leaking inside;) . Now to dry out all my stuff and get ready for the sailing season nice and dry again.

Mike
