I searched our forum for Ultimate Sole to refinish the interior teak sole and come up negative. Did they sell out to another paint brand? What would be the substitute for non-slip finishing; Epifanes, Interlux, Pettit?

The manufacturer went out of business a couple of years ago, and the product disappeared. Let us know if you find a similar product!

Bought and used Ultimate Sole for a few years and loved how it applied and how durable it was. Great looking finish. I was very disappointed when the manufacture went out of business. It couldn't have for product performance reasons. There had to be other business reasons. It was an outstanding product. RIP.

Me, too, but I was "going to buy it" 'cuz we finally got around to doing that.

Ended up using Min Wax, fairly good results, but not a "flat surface."

Lots of other options out there, but I gotta admit, that after doing that work, I wouldn't start over again with something else for the next 15 years! ;)

Last year I pulled the floor (all sections) and lightly sanded the veneer on my Hunter 40.5 and applied Daly's Floor Fin, (3 coats) a year later it looks great, you have the option of either a satin or gloss finish I opted for the gloss finish, much easier application, I used this after I tried to order Ultimate Sole and found out they were no longer in business, and then I discovered after I had applied the Daly's product, a unopened quart of Ultimete Sole I had ordered for my previous boat and never got around to using it. Geeeesh!

Would Spar Varnish be a better choice?

All U Get
NEVER use spar varnish on a sole. Spar varnish is soft/flexible so that if the spar bends the varnish doesnt crack and 'fall off'.
You want a 'hard' or 'bar top' varnish (but with good 'wet traction') for a sole. Imagine what a spar-varnished spar would look like if you continually walked on it. ;-)
