We sold Shiva, our Vega to Shane Westergard, a really nice young man who is anxious to take to the water. Unfortunately, Shane has to wait a year before he can realize that dream because he's leaving for Iraq in a week.

We told Shane about this group and the Vega Association, and he's already been reading the postings. Shane can't make it to the 2009 Vega Rendezvous, but he plans to attend the one in 2010.

When you buy a Vega you get a great old boat, but even better, you become a member of a really wonderful community. I know everyone will welcome Shane to the Vega family, and keep him in your thoughts this next year.

Sheila,
That's great news. Will we be meeting the new boat in Friday Harbor this year?
And welcome to you, Shane. I hope the next year flies by for you!

Hi - I dont often read my husband's mail, but somehow i was drawn to this one.

It was very moving. I, if not all Vega owners will keep this young man in our thoughts and hope he returns home safe and sound.

He will enjoy the Vega we have had our since 1972 and all our children have cut their teeth on her. We now have their children doing the self same thing. We now sail with 3 generations and we have been lucky enough to have the fourth generation sail on her too.

Take care and all the best in your endeavours.
