I am thinking of replacing cracked plastic vents with stainless solar activated type? Any experience relative to water tight integrity and air circulation?

They work great and don't leak if installed correctly

check this link. I have this model which moves 900 cubic feet/hour. It runs 24 hours a day even with the boat on the hard and covered by a white woven poly tarp.

Solar Vents

I have added solar vents on two different boats and they are great for keeping the boat smelling fresh. They are made of all plastic and got them from defender and they were a brand new model which run night and day, never had any leaks. Nick

Catalina 387 Cedar Mills-Lake Texhoma
On My 2006 C387

it came from the factory with a solar vent installed. I previously installed two solar vents on my Hunter 35.5. In checking the vents one day on the Catalina, I discovered that they had been installed incorrectly and although the fan would run, no air was moving. Pulled it apart and discovered that the adjustable sleeve had been glued so that the vent couldn't be turned on. Checked a neighbors C387 that is about a year earlier boat. It was glued the same way. That is one way to keep them from leaking water.
