Has anybody added a Nicro Solar vent or equivalent in the small hatch set behind the mast? I really don't want to bore a 4" hole in the cabin roof or foredeck. I assume it's acrylic or a polycarbonate. Any issues with using a hole saw?
Thanks
Doug

just tape off all of the vent lid so you do not scratch it and use the proper blade

I did it in my forward hatch. no problems with the hole saw. I changed the angle of attack by slightly wobbling the drill to give the blade room enough not to bind as your going through. There are directions with the vent.
BTW I've had issues with my vent, the second one failed. I will try replacing the motor that someone suggested on this site or the Cat30 Yahoo group. Good luck, mine has never leaked and when it works make a big difference in the cabin odors and temp.

Although not the same boat, I have a Nicro Solar in the small hatch behind the mast in my Hunter 28.5. It's worked out great for me.

I recommend that you run the hole saw in reverse, at least to start the hole if not right on through. You should still tape to avoid marring the surface if you slip out of position.

I removed the hatch (4 screws at the hinge), put it on a drill press and used the hole saw. Took it easy and used compressed air to cool it. Worked like a champ!
