I couldn’t work up the nerve to cut through my deck, so I put mine in the forward hatch lexan. My Marinco 4 doesn’t seem to move all that much air, but it helps a bit.

I installed mine on the v-berth hatch. Drill a hole in the plexiglass to start, and then cut a large opening with a jig saw. It's easy to seal because the hatch is flat. This avoids cutting through the deck with it's balsa core and then through the fiberglass overhead pan.

Thanks, just want to let the hot air out of cabin when it closed at the dock.

My H240 has the 4" Marinco in the forward hatch. I put it in last summer. IMG_20210910_142804427_HDR.jpgIMG_20210910_143942503_HDR.jpgIMG_20210910_145804015_HDR.jpgIMG_20210910_151831827_HDR.jpgIMG_20210910_153714793.jpg

I have had solar vent in front hatch many years in this boat and another but they always seem to stop working
after a few years and the one I have now just stopped but have not had chance to see maybe needs new battery and if had to do over maybe just a vent not solar.
I will look to see if just venting and not buy new one any more.
