Looking for advice regarding solar panels. Specifically for a 260. But all advice welcome.

Unisolar USF-32...

I've got a Unisolar 32 watt flexible panel on top of my bimini. It works nicely to charge the batteries and keeps a float charge on them. You should get a rough idea of your electrical usage and then figure out what size panel to get. The flexible ones are easy to work with, you can stow them under the v-berth cushions, etc. but they don't produce as much power as the rigid panels. They are more tolerant of shadows than the rigid ones which can be a big help depending on where you put them. The 32 watt panel gives me about 8 amp hours on a decent day, I could get more by turning it so it's always pointed at the sun but with a fixed mount that's tough. 8 amp hours is nowhere near enough to run energy hungry stuff like the fridge so don't plan on covering ALL of your consumption with Solar unless you have minimal demands or LOTS of panels. It is plenty for day sails and over the course of a week recharges what we use on weekend overnighters. Plus with the state of the electric company here in California it's nice to be "off the grid" ;.) Best prices are at Solar Electric (link below) Good luck!

What do you need them to do

Do you want to keep your batteries charged when you are away from the boat? Do you want to charge a 400 amp hour bank so you can run refrigeration? Or somewhere in between? Once you know the how much charge per day you need, you can see if solar works for you or if you need wind or a generator.

I have been having problems seeing the links below peoples messages also. For a while, I thought I was the only one out there that couldn't see them. Then last week I upgraded my browser from IE 5.0 to 5.5. Now I see the links too. Must be programming that not all browsers recognize.
