I have a 94' Hunter 26. I would like to add one or two fans for ventilation. Where have other Hunter 26 owners mounted them and which kind have you installed? I have seen one other Hunter 26 with a solar fan on one of the plexiglass screen next to the hatch over the v-berth. The owner was not around to ask if he liked where it was. Any help will be appreciated. Carl s/v Wind Shadow (still on the hard waiting for my mast it was sent to San Antonio for an extended stay till I asked where it was. opps. How can a shipper loose a 40' X 12" round cardboard tube. Dah.)

Keeping your cool.

Hey Carl, sorry to hear your not in the water yet. Thanks for posting your misfortune for the rest of us to learn by. I dropped (gently) the mast for the first time a few weeks back to fix the light. Paranoid is to weak a word to use here. I cleated the jib halyard to the mast, locked the rope clutch and cleated it again at the jib block to be sure. All went well Anyway, I mounted two oscillating fans by the compression post on either side of the light fixture. To bring fresh air in without drilling through the deck I was thinking of mounting one just under the starboard hatch (over the galley). If done correctly it would rotate on the mounting out of the way to open the hatch and then when swong back up would pull air through the screen into the cabin. I think they were called "Sea-Fit" at West Marine. I also saw them in Boat-US with a different name. I got them on sale for $16.95 last year. I have seen very similar units with brand names for over $50. These looked the same, I did have to return a few to get the ones that worked the way I liked though. Easy to do, a little power hungry but does the trick. alan
