soft spots in deck

Just got a 98 hunter 17 with soft spots in the deck at the base of the seat.
Any easy fixes ??

Do you mean on the floor? Mine had areas that would flex a half inch or more but being a plastic not fiberglass hull it was an odd feeling to have it flex so much. It was the hairline cracks that drove me to sell my 170. Not sure you can fix a soft or flexy spot on an ACP hull.

My 170 has developed similar soft deck issues. I'm ordering repair supplies right now. See http://forums.sbo.sailboatowners.com/showthread.php?t=121500.
The only problem I had with the foam column approach described in the quoted thread was that I did not properly bevel the plastic discs (produced by the hole saw when drilling the access holes) and the deck when gluing them back into place. Glue did not have enough surface to adhear to and seperated over the winter. Fixed that a couple weeks ago. I am still very pleased with the support provided by the foam.
