SoCal Vegas

hi,
I'm still hoping I can make contact with a Vega in
the L.A. area. I would really like to have a good look
at a complete boat. It seems many old salts I've met
know of the Vega and are quite very encouraging in
their advice. But I would still like to see one. Is
the news letter still being published. Would a photo
file simply documenting the Vega from various angles
be a useful guide to restorers.

Brett,

I guess I am the person best equipped to answer at least two of your
questions. Firstly; yes, the newletter is still being published (See
my next post for more on that).

Secondly, on Vegas in the LA area - Surprisingly, there are only four
in Southern California that I know of, that is those that have ever
been members of the AVA, and one of those is in Santa Barbara.
Currently, there is only one that I know of in Marina Del Rey that
would be close to you. Surprising, considering the many tens of
thousands of boatrs in the area. By way of contrast, last summer I
saw four Vegas for sale in one marina in Puget sound. Even here in
Hawaii there are three in the Ala Wai which has a total of less than
1000 slips.

If you want to see more than one, I think your best bet would be to
take a trip uo to the Seattle area if possible. There are dozens up
there and in Victoria BC.
