So long, West Marine

Went to the local West Marine today and found it closed, shut down, left town. Sign said 'Please visit us in Tulsa.' Fat chance.

Just wish they'd have given us some notice. I had plans to do some work this weekend.

Probably will save me money, though. I've always supported the local West Marine because it was the only game in town. Now I can buy that Cetol light for $26 from Defender instead of making a 20-mile drive to buy it for $40 at West Marine.

what price for convenience

Defender lists it for $26 plus almost $7 shipping to my location within a one hour drive = $33 and I get it in 4 days.
WM retail price is $36 for the ability to get it now.

I guess the real price is not having a local chandlery anymore if you consider 20 miles close

A 40-mile round trip for me is a couple of gallons of gas, which even in Oklahoma equals Defender's shipping cost.

Bad news

although their customer service had really taken a dive in the last year. Bass Pro only has so much that applies to sailboats.
Oh, well. Maybe something will open up closer to T-bird. Or we can get Mark Z. to order the stuff for us from the marina office.
