For various reasons I recently donated "Flicka", Vega #1874 (1973) to the Long Island Maritime Museum.
The museum in turn has the boat up for sale and it is currently docked in one of their slips at Sayville, NY (Long Island).
Though I no longer own the boat, but after owning "Flicka" for 32 years and many years of membership in this group, I thought I'd put the information out there for current and potential Vega owners.
Over the years I upgraded and replaced parts and systems and since 2001 have replaced the engine, a Beta with approx. 90 hrs on it, main and genoa, installed Furlex furling, a new dodger, custom made by Diana of the UK Vega group, new stem fitinng from Steve B., also from Britain and numerous other replacements and/or improvements such as leading all reefing lines to the cockpit, replacing the winches with Harken self-tailing ones and installing one of the original winches on the coach top with a tripple clutch pack forward.
I saw "Flicka" last week and she is ready to go!
