so I had time, fabric and access to an industrial sewing machine, so I made some cockpit bags and a companionway screen cover, I would have liked to have some phifertex but I had this screen mesh on hand, going to be trying them out this weekend on the water.

Nice! What did you use for weights on the companionway screen? Beats the retail price for sure!

I got some weights when I bought my DPV (underwater scooter) to trim it out and I had some left over, so the total price of the project is a big zero, just took the time to measure, cut and sew

On my screen, I got natural aquarium gravel and filled tubes that I sewed into the perimeter. Worked great.

Years ago, when I made my hatch and companionway screens, I glued Velcro strips to the inside of the openings and on the edges of the screens. Gave a good seal that kept the bugs out. Of course, over time, the Velcro now needs replacing in some spots but, is an easy fix.

I did a hybrid solution, velcro around part of the top and only the weights for the rest
