I could use some help configuring my new main sail for my O'Day 22? Would I really use that second reef point? Partial batten, full batten, some full batten?

Does anyone have any good input they would like to share?

Jay,
I think that one reef point is enough for my O'Day 222 where I sail in the bays of my area. If you're sailing a lake, it's probably enough for your boat. Full batten or no, is a matter of taste, but it's going to cost you more money for the full batten. The only thing that I prefer in a Mainsail are sail slides not only on the Luff of the sail, but the Foot, as well. This makes it very easy to tie in the reef between the Foot of the sail and the top of the boom, instead off tying around the boom which in my opinion looks kind of hacky and un-nautical. Batten pockets should be reinforced, and made in such of a way that you won't lose your battens. I don't believe that I've ever lost any battens on my present Mainsail, but I had lost them with the mainsail that came stock with my O'Day 222. Outside of that, I also prefer a grommet for the Cunningham, and a leech line.
Joe
