Maybe that's why Dennis is losing now!

I don't read Dennis, so guess he "may" be right, and then again, he may be wrong. However, as the question is posed as to the reference being to Dennis, guess the answer we must accept is what is shown. That doesn't necessarily mean that is the correct way to have the telltales flow, tho. As per Dennis it is tho, so!!!!!! Maybe that's why he's losing too many races these days.

What Preferred channel means

If you were going up a river, and there is a creek going off to the side, the preferred chanel is the main chanel, or the one going up the river. You can pass on both sides, but the marking w/ the horizontal stripes indicates where the creek takes off, and also where the river (main channel is located. Also by looking at which color is at the top, also tells you which direction the creek meanders off. Vertical red/white stripes indicates it's a center channel marker and eliminates the use of alternating red/green buoys where there is no problem w/ the depth of the water, on either side. Both markers, you can pass on both sides, however they tell the navigator different things which may be a key as to where he may want to anchor for the night, grill a steak, etc, etc. regards Terry

What percent answers all correctly

From the web page showing the percentages of persons answering the questions, there are none shown getting all the answers correctly. If that is correct, perhaps there is a question that should not have been included. As the "per" Dennis Conners telltales is the one I missed, I submit, that is the one that should have been omitted.

I'm Impressed

The red and white marker is a question in one of our courses. We always have to mention it twice and stomp our feet to get folks to remember that one. Actually it seems like there would be better questions to ask than that one for an entry course on boating safety. For most of us it will never matter which side we pass that mark on.

Flying telltales

I agree with Terry Griggs. Altho I have alot of respect for Dennis Conner his "correct" answer is contrary than all I have been told and taught! But he does know how to sail!
