.Yep - posted it on my Facebook page this afternoon. Crazy go-fast boaters.

I do love the way the driver just goes over . . .

Dressed

Well at least they were dressed for it, and going along in style. Maybe clothes don't make the boater. :)

I don't see a candy bar....

This is not funny. I see lives forever changed.

One cannot help but wonder what a little education would have done to minimize this situation. I have owned 60+ MPH boats and know there is a way to operate safely and respectfully, both for fellow boaters and passengers. As a skipper of such a boat I can see exactly what happened as the boat swapped ends. Had everyone been seated in the supplied seats the outcome would have been quite different.

From what I see, the owner might have driven through it had he been inside the bolsters or better yet firmly seated. It would still have been nasty but the driver leaving the helm made the ride bad for the passengers as he lost the wheel... Well, that and the fact the passengers were both standing AND riding on the sunpad.

A bad experience for all on board for sure, and I hope they are all okay. Lesson learned: such a boat has deep seats and side bolsters for a reason. As I often have said, "SIT DOWN. SHUT UP. HANG ON."

The accident would probably not be here in this thread had the driver tucked in and insisted his passengers do so as well.

Let's hope those guys don't make fun of us next time we have a busted thru-hull, or are broached / knocked down / grounded or are otherwise in need of help. The only real difference is the gas receipt at the fuel pump. Otherwise we are all folks trying to enjoy the water.

I think the tale is told by watching the helmsman's (probably a poor use of the word) hands and where his eyes are looking.
If that is the throttle then he is clearly a digital age guy. full on or idle and lets just stare at the instruments to the point of not knowing what is going on around us.
I do feel sorry for the crew, course I would not be in a seat in those conditions either as it kills your back so .....

People ask me why I don't sail on Lake of the Ozarks. This explains it all.

No matter how big or fast your boat is, somebody else is going to throw a huge wake in your direction someday.

What I can't figure out is why they were standing up going that fast?
